Rod Stewart is a best-selling music artist whose career has spanned six decades. The British singer and songwriter has had numerous hit albums and singles in both the UK and US, showcasing his distinctively raspy, soulful voice. Born in London in 1945, Stewart’s first success was as lead singer with the Jeff Beck Group, who he joined in 1967. He was nicknamed ‘Rod the Mod,’ due to his signature spiky hairstyle and dandy clothes tastes. In 1969 he joined The Faces. Stewart’s first solo album, ‘An Old Raincoat Will Never Let You Down,’ was released in 1969. It was mix of rock, blues and soul, as was his 1970 solo album, ‘Gasoline Alley.’ His 1971 album, ‘Every Picture Tells a Story,’ produced the hit single ‘Maggie May’ and the album and single went to number one in the USA and UK. The Faces continued to tour and record, but Stewart’s successful solo work caused tensions within the band. His next solo album ‘Never a Dull Moment,’ produced the hit ‘You Wear It Well.’ In 1975 The Faces disbanded, and Stewart released another successful solo album, ‘Atlantic Crossing.’ This contained his biggest-selling UK single, ‘Sailing.’ More hits followed throughout the ‘70s, including ‘Tonight’s the Night’ and ‘First Cut is the Deepest.’ Stewart also embraced the disco movement with hits like ‘Hot Legs’ and ‘Do Ya Think I’m Sexy.’ Successful chart topping singles in the 80’s included ‘Forever Young’ and ‘Baby Jane.’ He had a hit album in 1991 with ‘Vagabond Heart.’ In 1994 Stewart was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He concentrated on covers in the 2000s, recording a successful 'Great American Songbook' and 'Soulbook' series of albums, but returned to songwriting in recent years with the 2013 album ‘Time,’ followed in 2015 by ‘Another Country.’
